Deep Within the Davis Mountains

Nestled in the Davis Mountains of West Texas is the Sproul Family Ranch. Sproul Ranch has been cherished within the Sproul family since it was established in 1886. The enchanting location is now being preserved and brought to life by the Hurley Family.

Since the age of 12, Taylor Hurley, has been an active part of the Sproul Family and maintenance of the ranch. Now, at the age of 21, Hurley has been appointed Ranch Hand and Coordinator and works alongside their family.

Deep Within the Davis Mountains highlights the daily respect, function, and beauty of running this historical landmark.

Established in 1886, Sproul Ranch has been handed down generation through generation.

This next generation includes Hurley, who is motivated to preserve the ranch and modernize it to be successful in todays world; without sacrificing any of its history.

An important part of the Ranch’s livelihood is caring for the hundreds of livestock.

No better place for a Long Horn than the Texas Mountains. Really, they’re gentle giants.

Problems arise every day out there, and Hurley faces them with resiliency.

The rugged terrain of the Davis Mountains is not easy feat. A spring fed well was clogged and the Hurley’s had to hike over half a mile up a mountain to get it resolved.

Never afraid to get their hands dirty (literally).

Ranching begins and ends with the sun. Hurley makes their way back to the lodge after a long day to meet of with family to discuss what this day and the next have in store.

The Harvard Lodge is where the Hurley -Sproul family spends their time connecting, unwinding, hosting, and everything in between. Within the lodge are over 50 mounted game and over 100 family artifacts dating back over a century.

Days out here are devoted to appreciating history while preparing H.E. Sproul ranching for the brightest future.
